Running Noses!?!?- Charity 5K Race

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

This past weekend was busy in Wilmington as the Azalea Festival kicked off Friday, filling downtown with festivities and parades for the rest of the weekend. Sunday afternoon, on UNCW’s campus, 3 members of the Surf Camp office staff proudly supported the Dreams foundation of Wilmington by participating in the Second Annual Running Noses 5K Race. All registration fees and personal donations were given directly to the Dreams Foundation of Wilmington, to help make dreams happen!  This year, Running Noses awarded the Dreams Foundation a check for $1500.

Surf Camp was a proud sponsor of the race, and was stoked to be able to help wonderful events such as these continue to occur.

Our Team:

Chelsea, our Office Manager and one of Surf Camp’s Reservation Specialists, were the top overall women’s finisher, CONGRATULATIONS, Chelsea!

Jenn R, one of Surf Camp’s Reservation Specialists and a proud Surf Camp Instructor, completed the 5K race after biking from Wrightsville Beach, and then biked home after the race was done! She graciously accompanied “The Nose” throughout the entire race, running side by side!

Kathleen D, one of Surf Camp’s Reservation Specialists and Marketing Assistants, was “The Nose” and is not hard to find when glancing through the photos from that day. With a large nose made of paper mache and chicken wire, you can’t miss her. Thank you to everyone that helped by coming out that day and we hope to see you next year!

Surf & SCUBA Summer Camp

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I’m so excited about Surf Camps new Surf and SCUBA specialty camp.  I got my dive certification back when I was 18 and it’s one the best decisions I’ve ever made.  Since then I’ve had the option to dive while on vacation.  In the past 8 years I’ve dove in Santa Catalina Island, California; the Bahamas; West Palm Beach, Florida; the dry Tortugas; Hawaii; Wrightsville Beach, NC; the Outer Banks, NC; in the dolphin pools at my previous job; Byron Bay, Australia; and the Great Barrier Reef, Australia!!!  In fact, North Carolina was rated one of the #1 diving destination in the United States by Scuba Diving Magazine!  Through diving, I’ve been able to get up-close and personal with marine life that most people never get to see except on the Discovery Chanel.  Being able to breathe underwater and stay down for an hour makes you feel like you are just one of the fishes!!!

If you’re thinking about coming to Surf Camp this summer and you have interest in marine life and learning how to surf then Surf and SCUBA Camp is most definitely for you!

2008 Teen Surf Camp Catalogs arrived!

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Our new Teen Surf Camp Catalog have arrived! Everyone in the office was super excited yesterday as we flipped through the bright colorful photos that graced all 40 pages. The glossy pages with salty, happy smiles created a grin on all of our faces.

This catalog truly captures how special and unique our camps really are. What Surf Camp has to offer is truly magical, and the great memories and relationships campers have the chance to make! It makes me want to be a teenager again, and the common phrase in the office was “wow, I wish I’d gone to Surf Camp when I was a teenager!” (And that’s no joke!)- If you’d like to check out a catalog please let me know! I can send one right to your door!

*70 degrees today with waist to stomach high, glassy waves!
